Marine Rescue NSW Commissioner Alex Barrell said highly skilled volunteers from the Marine Rescue Terrigal, Central Coast, Norah Head, and Tuggerah Lakes units are ready to respond to calls at any time, day or night.

As the popularity of boating continues to grow across Australia, the Boating Industry Australia (BIA) is providing valuable guidance to first-time boaters to help ensure a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience on the water this summer. For those who have just bought a new boat, thinking about buying one for the first time, renting a boat or tagging along with friends, they have ten tips to ensure the adventure is remembered for the right reasons.

The Marina Industry Association's (MIA) training body, the Marina Training Institute, has launched its most significant educational initiative in years: a comprehensive online anytime Workplace Health and Safety course tailored specifically for the unique risks and challenges of the industry.

The BIA recently conducted a marine careers photo shoot, spotlighting the diverse opportunities and inspiring environments within the boating industry. They extend a huge thank you to Ultra Boutique, The Boat Works, Chapman Yachting Services, and Geoff Lovett International for their invaluable participation in this initiative. You can support workforce development by sharing your own photos celebrating the vibrant marine sector!

Matt Wearn OAM and Grae Morris were celebrated at the 2024 Australian Sports Performance Awards held in Melbourne on Wednesday night. The gala event recognised Australia's top athletes, with Wearn being awarded Male Able-Athlete of the Year for his exceptional achievements this past year. Wearn was up against Olympic champions Cameron McEvoy (Swimming Australia) and Keegan Palmer (Skate Australia) in the prestigious category. Wearn was recognised for his historic win in the Men's Dinghy class at Paris 2024, his second Olympic gold.

The Hong Kong International Boat Show 2024 ended with positive response from both exhibitors and visitors. The Show, organised by Club Marina Cove, is widely regarded by the boating industry as the premier event in the Asia Pacific. The 25th Edition has on display some 50 boats from Italy, France, Finland, Spain, UK, USA and China. The four-day event attracted some 5,000 visitors. With the increasing popularity of boating, the demand for boats of different designs and makes has grown steadily. Hong Kong's unique waterscape of 261 islands is a distinct asset to its development as a major boating centre.
