The Stoneways Marine insurance experts are pleased to announce the winners of their inaugural Amateur Marine Photographer of the Year competition. 1st place is awarded to Natasha Fairbrother from Hampshire, for her photo showing the fun, laughter and bonding experiences which take place when afloat. A real depiction of the 2022 competition topic of 'Life Onboard'.
2nd place is presented to Michael James for his image of a Fairey Huntsman with the throttle wide open and intense concentration from a crew busy on marshalling duties.
3rd place goes to Nick Vass for his image showing a mystical scene of a classic wooden tender, the serene nature that the water can form and the array of colours and textures found afloat both on the coast and inland on the rivers and canals.
The Marine Amateur Photographer of the Year Competition ran throughout November 2022 with entries closing on the 11th December. A significant number of entries were received depicting a host of scenes of life on and around the water, making the judges' decision very hard. The winners will be receiving prizes including chandlery vouchers, branded clothing and their images published online as well as featured in the Stoneways 2023 Marine Calendar.
Alongside the top three winners, nine other photographers' images were chosen as runners up and their photos are featured in the 2023 Stoneways Marine Calendar. Keith Lovett, Managing Director of Stoneways Marine said, "I was truly impressed to see the number and quality of entries submitted to our 2022 photography competition and it took some lengthy discussions among the team to decide on the winners. Thank you to everyone who entered and congratulations to all the winners. We will certainly be running the competition again in 2023 and I look forward to seeing the spectacular images taken during the up-coming boating season."
