A powerful South-Easterly windy, steady on the Lazio coast at over 20 knots, crystallizes the operations at the Eurocup, event reserved for the Melges 14 fleet, hosted over the weekend in Santa Marinella thanks to the joint effort of Melges Europe, Club Nautico Guglielmo Marconi and Planet Sail Bracciano.
The ranking therefore remains unchanged from yesterday, with three races completed, in addition to Friday's warm up. Giampiero Poggi wins the 2021 Eurocup Melges 14 title with an impeccable performance and three bullets, followed on the podium by Alessio Muciaccia (10 pt) and Mario Aquila (11 pt). Luca Angelini (15 pt) and Davide Di Maio (16 pt) close the top-five.
As for the Melges World League seasonal circuit, which following in the steps of the greatest Melges 20 and Melges 32 before Santa Marinella made stopovers in Scarlino, Cala Galera and Malcesine, the leader to date of the 2021 season is Davide Di Maio, winner of the events of Cala Galera and Malcesine.
Di Maio leaves behind, on equal points but with worse partial results so far, Luca Angelini, protagonist of the inaugural event of the 2021 season in Scarlino. Third place for Mario Aquila, only two points behind the leaders. Gustavo Vianna from Brazil and Giampiero Poggi close the top-five.
The 2021 activity of the Melges 14 fleet does not end here: during the winter, there are several regattas and training events that the fleet is already planning.
