The RS Aero Swedish Open Class Championships was held at Ljungskile, Sweden, a beautifiul nature area one hour north of Gothenburg on 5/6th August alongside the RS Tera World Championship.
This synergy allowed parents and siblings of the visiting RS Tera sailors the opportunity join the Swedish RS Aero fleet for some competitive racing of their own whilst at the beautiful location. A total of 25 RS Aero sailors from Sweden, Norway, Great Britain and the Netherlands participated.
Congratulations to Bjorn Warnberg of Ljungskile Segelsallskap, who after the five race series came out as winner of the RS Aero Open Swedish Class Championship! 2nd place went to Magne Klann of Soon Seilforening, Norway who was also 1st RS Aero 7. 3rd was Erik Wahlberg of Gefle SS.
It was great to see all the new and young RS Aero sailors from Linkopings Jolleseglarklubb and Kungliga Svenska Segelsallskapet join the Swedish fleet.
The RS Aero class is growing rapidly in Sweden too, with sailors realising all the benefits and fantastic fun sailing characteristics of the RS Aero. A warm welcome to the class!
Thank you to all the RS Aero sailors for coming and to Ljungskile Segelsallskap for well run Class Championships alongside the larger RS Tera event.
Next up on the RS Aero Class international calendar is the RS Aero European Championships at Malcesine on Lake Garda from 17-23rd August. With 106 competitors already signed up from 19 nations it is set to be a fantastic week of racing in Italy!
