When the BOM issued a Strong Wind Warning for Sydney Harbour you knew the event was going to live up to its name and what a challenge it was. Twenty Five yachts from all parts of Sydney participated in divisional categories, seven of which were all female crew.
Alchemy may have won the best dressed boat in their Viking get ups but we all felt like gladiators in the very demanding conditions.
Little Nico was first over the line in Division 1 also coming 3rd on PHS in the Female Helm category, with Moonraker first over the line for Division 2. PT73 took out 1st Place in All Female Crew Division 1 with long time competitor Jenny Danks on the helm. Division 2 All Female Crew was won by Pam Joy coming from Greenwich with her yacht Tana.
In the Female Helm category Sirius won Division 1 with 12 year old Evie Saunders at the helm, a talented young sailor with Manly Yacht Clubs junior program. Ratty Tooey's Nicola Reade took out Division 2. Division 4 comprising the Yngling fleet was won by Maria Adder on Black Adder.
