The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) and race sponsor, Noakes Group, are pleased to announce that entries are now open for the 37th running of the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race.

The 384-nautical-mile race serves as the season opener for the 2025/26 Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore, launching the CYCA's iconic offshore racing calendar.

Since its inception in 1986, the Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race has become a firm favourite on Australia's offshore racing circuit. Known as the "Great Winter Escape", the blue water challenge sees competitors race north to Main Beach, ahead of the Queensland racing season.

Competitors will again contest the Peter Rysdyk Memorial Trophy for Overall Honours, most recently claimed by twin brothers Louis and Marc Ryckmans aboard Voltstar Yeah Baby in the 2024 edition.

"After the incredible Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race last year, we're thrilled to have entries open again," said Sean Langman, Managing Director of Noakes Group. "It's always such a dynamic and competitive race and I'll be proudly cheering on the fleet from the UK this year as I take on the Rolex Fastnet Race and the Admiral's Cup, representing the CYCA. I can't wait to see how this year's race unfolds and am looking forward to many more successful editions."

URM Group, Line Honours winner in 2024, hopes to make its offshore debut with a new rig in this year's race, following a dismasting and subsequent retirement from the 2024 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

Richard Hudson's Pretty Woman will return for its 21st Sydney Gold Coast campaign. Hudson himself has competed in nearly every edition, tallying over 35 races. A seasoned offshore sailor, he is widely recognised for his contribution to the sport, particularly his mentorship of women and youth sailors.

The CYCA is anticipating a busy offshore season, with strong interest from international competitors in the lead-up to the 80th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, which has already attracted over 50 entries.
