A total of eight Canadian sailors will take part in the second event of the 2025 Sailing Grand Slam Series, French Olympic Week, to be held April 21-26 in Hyères, FRA.

Amongst the eight Canadians, Paris 2024 Olympians Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance from Chester, N.S., will be in action in 49erFX, as will Emily Bugeja from Vancouver, B.C., in women's Formula Kite, and Will Jones from Burlington, ON, who will be competing in 49er with his new post-Olympic teammate Arie Moffat from Kingston, ON.

Two weeks ago at the first event of the 2025 Sailing Grand Slam Series, the 54th Princess Sofia Trophy Regatta, Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance qualified for the Medal Race and took 9th place overall. That was their first competition since the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

"After a solid event in Palma and a good week of recovery with some cycling and gym sessions, we're excited to get back on the water in Hyères," said Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance. "We've only been here once before, so it's not the most familiar venue for us. We'll also use this event to try a new coaching partnership, which should be fresh and exciting. Thank you to everyone supporting back home!"

The Princess Sofia Trophy Regatta was also the first post-Olympic competition for Emily Bugeja, who took the 24th position in Formula Kite, while Will Jones and Arie Moffat finished 48th overall in their first official races since joining forces.

As is the case for Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance, Will Jones and Arie Moffat, as well as Emily Bugeja, all the other participants taking part in the 2025 French Olympic Week event are members of the Sail Canada National Team: Clara Gravely from Toronto in ILCA 6, in addition to Galen Richardson (Toronto, ON) and Madeline Gillis (Halifax, N.S.) in Nacra 17.
