Tenzor International Cup - J/70 Open Winter Series 2024-2025 - Stage 4 Day 2

by Burak Zengin 16 Mar 19:02 NZDT 14-16 March 2025

Hubex continues to lead, a good day for the Corinthian teams

The second race day of 4th Leg of Tenzor International Cup - J/70 Open winter Series 2024-2025 finished with a single race completed.

"It was a difficult day for RC with some very tough decisions to make", declared Can Giray, PRO of regatta. "The wind was very light, contrary to the forecast. There was not enough wind for the first race of the day, so the start was postponed to the shore. Finally, at 1545 the first start was given and 15 boats started. One boat received a UFD penalty for cutting the line before the start. After the finishes were taken in light winds, the RC immediately started preparations for the second race. However, the race was abandoned when the wind died out at the second upwind mark."

Tenzor Team skippered by Andrey Pushkin completed this race as a leader, which allowed them to rise to 2nd place in the overall standings.

"The race was fair, smooth, and despite the fact that the wind was light, but stable enough. We managed to win this race, that made us very happy, as it is quite difficult for us as one of the heavy teams to race in such wind conditions. All bets are off for final race day. There is a good forecast of up to 15 knots of wind, and I think the judges will hold 3 or 4 races. We have improved our position in the overall standings and continue to fight for the podium on the stage and in the overall standings of the Series", said Daniil Odintsov, Tenzor Team tactician.

Peter Bukin's team O1Properties finished second. The crew successfully reduced to 1 point their gap from the leader in the Corinthian standings - Ayaz team helmed by Arif Ayaz.

One more Corinthian team - Ada JR led by Alp Doguoglu have crossed the finish line with the third overall result.

"It was the day when the God Poseidon was favouring the Corinthian teams. We have scored great, choosing the right side of the course. We are happy to finish in third just a few second behind O1 Properties", commented Alp Doguoglu, skipper of Ada JR team.

Next two teams reaching the finish line in top-5 were the "Bogatyrs" and Hubex respectively.

The overall standings have changed after three races. Hubex team kept to leadership, Tenzor Team moved to 2nd place and the 3rd position went to Atoll Sailing Team. Very tight results among the rivals will make the final race day on Sunday, March 16th, the most important and unpredictable one.
