Tenzor International Cup - J/70 Open Winter Series 2024-2025 - Stage 3 Day 2

by Burak Zengin 16 Feb 08:18 NZDT 13-16 February 2025

After a race-free first day, due to insufficient wind, the second day of Tenzor International Cup - J/70 Open Winter Series 2024-2025 Leg 3 regatta got going in close and exciting action. With good winds of just over 15kts, not stable and shifty with waves, 17 teams successfully sailed four races.

As Can Giray, PRO of regatta, summarized: "RC set up the start line without wasting any time and started the races quickly. The first two races went smoothly. However, when the teams started very aggressively in the third race of the day, RC postponed the start before the start signal and decided to start with the Uniform Code pennant in the second attempt. After all these, we completed the day without any problems with four tiring races.

"In order to reach the total targeted number of nine races, RC set the start time as 1100 hrs for the last racing day".

Tenzor Team could show the best results in all races with two wins and two finishes in second position. Bogatyrs is the closest rival with 9 points behind.

Dolce Vita led by Inna Balashova started perfectly with one race won but lost positions in two last races of the day. Anyway the team is currently on third place.

With just one point difference from each other there are three teams which are fighting for the podium. Hubex skippered by Kirill Frolov, Atoll Sailing Team led by Anatoliy Arnautov and Turkish Ameera Jet by Emir Icgoren.

Teenage team skippered by Pavel Grachev started very good in their debut. Two finishes in the top five put them in leading group. For Ayaz Team who renewed its team staff with experienced Doga Aribas performed well with one race in the top three and others in the middle of the fleet.

Doga Aribas said: "We had a beautiful conditions with some shifts and waves. The fleet is very strong and the races are getting tougher and tougher. We finished three races in the middle of the fleet, and in one race we found the way to put us in the top three, which is a great result for us, as this is our first racing event with the team. I guess it will be more windy tomorrow, and I'm sure the quality of racing will be pretty high."

In Corinthian division the Orient Express skippered by Arif Gurdenli is in the lead after four races and closes the top ten overall.

The competitors are set to face more challenges in the last race day of third Leg, providing an exciting narrative for sailing enthusiasts.

Results after four races:

1. Tenzor Team 6 pts
2. Russian Bogatyrs 15 pts
3. Dolce Vita 22 pts
4. Hubex 24 pts
5. Atoll Sailing Team 25 pts
6. Ameera Jet 26 pts
7. Teenage 32 pst
