The wait is over: First pictures of Al Reem revealed

by Bilgin Yachts 9 Jan 18:47 NZDT

Bilgin Yachts proudly concluded 2024 with the much-anticipated launch of Al Reem, the third and final unit of the 80-meter superyacht trilogy.

The 80-meter series has cemented Bilgin Yachts' reputation as a leader in the global superyacht industry. Launched in 2020, Tatiana made history as the largest yacht ever built in Türkiye, setting new standards in naval architecture and engineering. Her successor, Leona, garnered international acclaim by winning several awards including "Outstanding Exterior Design-Motor Yachts, 60m and Above" at the 2024 BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards. Now, Al Reem not only upholds but enhances the legacy of her predecessors with fresh innovations to reach new heights in design, craftsmanship, and luxury.

Bold and Voluminous Exterior Lines

Emrecan Özgün, founder and CEO of Unique Yacht Design explains, "While Al Reem is the youngest sibling in this series, she is the most voluminous, boasting a gross tonnage of 1,758 GT -nearly 100 gross ton more than Tatiana. To achieve this, we completely redesigned the superstructure, creating smooth, flowing lines and an imposing yet elegant profile. The mast is larger and more striking than her predecessors." Additionally, the yacht features a foredeck crafted entirely from teak, and a superstructure designed in a striking combination of metallic gray-white and black. The mast, painted gray, is significantly 20% larger than those of her sisterships, further accentuating the yacht's bold and modern aesthetic.

One of Al Reem's standout features is her forward-facing owner's suite, which offers an expansive 300- degree view and direct connection to nature, with two sliding doors that lead to an outdoor terrace and jacuzzi area. Additionally, larger glass panels in the main and upper living rooms enhance the feeling of proximity to the sea. The extended aft decks provide 20% more outdoor living space, creating expansive social areas for relaxation and entertainment. "Each of the three sisterships is distinct," notes Özgün. "We tailored Al Reem's layout and design to deliver a sleek and luxurious experience while maintaining a connection to nature."

Bilgin's Commercial Director, Berkay Yilmaz described the yacht's appearance as follows: "Al Reem stands out with her exterior design with dynamic and elegant features that separate her from her sisters. The metallic grey and white color scheme also gives her a sporty, aggressive look." He also highlighted the shipyard's achievements, saying, "Bilgin Yacht is continuously growing and leading the Turkish yachting industry with 12 under-construction projects. Al Reem is another statement and opportunity to connect with industry professionals and a testament to our excellence."

Crafting Elegance and Serenity

For the interiors, Bilgin collaborated once again with H2 Yacht Design, whose work on Tatiana and Leona received widespread praise. Jonny Horsfield, founder of H2 Yacht Design, shared his insights: "We developed a completely new interior aesthetic for Al Reem, focusing on a light and neutral palette that feels fresh yet calming on the soul. The design exudes a sophisticated and timeless elegance, crafted to provide both luxury and comfort. The foundation of the design features matt timbers offering warm organic texture that harmonizes with the sleek refinement of polished stainless steel details adding a modern and striking contrast. Plush cream leather upholstered wall panels and accents radiating a sense of understated opulence while ensuring a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The flooring is a mix of wood and silk carpets, their soft texture complementing the understated tones and providing a sense of quiet luxury underfoot."

Highlighting key areas of the interior feature marbles with unique veining patterns act as eye-catching focal points showcasing both craftsmanship and the natural beauty of the material. Intricate decorative glass elements further enhance the space, refracting light and creating a shimmering interplay that adds depth and dynamism to the overall design. According to Horsfield, this carefully curated combination of materials results in a sophisticated ambiance, balancing cutting-edge design with timeless luxury, perfect for an exclusive clientele.

Marino Perkusic, representing the owner, expressed his pride in the project: "Building Al Reem was a remarkable journey of collaboration, and I must mention that the role of Bluewater's Management team was crucial as they closely followed the build with me. Despite initial challenges, Bilgin's proactive and flexible team quickly established a productive working relationship. Their creativity and attention to detail exceeded all expectations, translating the owner's vision into a breathtaking reality."

The owner's vision for Al Reem was to create a serene oasis focused on calmness, purity, and relaxation. This vision was elegantly translated into the final design through an emphasis on modern aesthetics, sleek lines, and an open layout that encourages a connection with nature. "We carefully selected materials and incorporated design elements that reflect this ethos, ensuring that every space within the yacht contributes to a peaceful and luxurious atmosphere." says Perkusic. "The owner's refined taste significantly influenced our decisions regarding the yacht's layout and features. We prioritized creating multifunctional spaces that facilitate relaxation and social interaction, ensuring that each area complements the owner's lifestyle. The owner intends to use Al Reem primarily for personal leisure, seeking to enjoy moments of peace and connection with nature in various secluded locations around the world. The layout incorporates numerous lounging areas, outdoor decks, and amenities that cater to an immersive experience."

This sentiment was echoed by Irina Blagodyr, Bluewater International Broker, who remarked, "I am immensely proud to have brokered and negotiated the build contract for Al Reem. It was a wonderful experience working with Bilgin Shipyard on this project, and the result has exceeded all my expectations." Adding to the reflections, Phillip Holden, Director of Yacht Management at Bluewater International, noted, "Following the build of Al Reem with my onsite team has been a rewarding experience for the Bluewater management team and Bilgin. Combined efforts, alongside the expertise of Bilgin Shipyard, have culminated in a stunning yacht that showcases the best of craftsmanship and collaboration."

A Triumphant Year Finale

As Bilgin Yachts celebrates the launch of Al Reem in the end of 2024, the culmination of over three years of meticulous craftsmanship and dedication, the shipyard reinforces its position at the forefront of luxury yacht building. With her striking design, refined interiors, and innovative features, Al Reem is a testament to the vision, passion, and artistry that define the Bilgin brand.
