400 sailors from 14 countries set to compete in the 48th Palamós Christmas Race

Just one month to go until the 48th edition of the Palamós Christmas Race, a benchmark regatta for both Olympic and dinghy sailing in the winter season, to be held from 18th to 22nd December in the waters of the Bay of Palamós (Girona).

The Club Nàutic Costa Brava-Vela Palamós, the organiser of the regatta, has already registered more than 400 sailors and coaches in the five categories taking part: the Olympic ILCA 7 and ILCA 6 Women and the strategic and promotional categories ILCA 4, ILCA 6 Men, 420 Men/Mixed and Women and 29er Men/Mixed and Women.

The director of the Palamós-Christmas Race, Anna Cuxart, explains that 'we will have a very good participation in all the classes, both nationally and internationally, as teams from all over Europe are registering'. It also happens that 'sailors who once participated in the Palamós International Optimist Trophy and once they make the leap to other classes, such as the ILCA, 420 or 29er, come to the Christmas Race and come back to Palamós'.

As of today and with the registrations still open, there are nearly 400 sailors and coaches registered from 14 countries: Germany, Belgium, Spain, USA, Finland, France, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine.

The great novelty of the 48th Palamós Christmas Race will be the fact that the regatta will be held at the Platja Gran de Palamós, in the heart of the town centre, so that citizens and visitors can actively participate in the various activities that will take place around the regatta.
