The 49er and Nacra 17 Classes invite expressions of interest from host cities, sailing clubs, and organizations to bid for the opportunity to organize the following events:

  • 2026 European Championship for 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17
  • 2027 European Championship for 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17
  • 2028 European Championship for 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17
  • 2028 World Championship for 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17

We are looking for Junior Worlds and Junior European championship venues too.

These prestigious championships offer an exciting chance to host and support top sailors from around the world, showcasing the dynamic and demanding 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17 Olympic classes. Successful hosts will play a crucial role in supporting athletes on their journey toward the Olympic Games while promoting world-class sailing within their communities.

Event Requirements and Benefits

The selected host venues will have the privilege to provide outstanding competition, conditions, and facilities for athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators alike. As part of the event, the host organization will:

  • Provide suitable onshore facilities and infrastructure, including launching, docking, and race management capabilities that can accommodate a large number of boats, support teams, and fans.
  • Arrange for fair and challenging racing conditions in line with international standards, ensuring all sailors have an exceptional competition experience.
  • Promote community engagement and media coverage to bring these dynamic and exciting sailing disciplines to a wider audience, generating interest in Olympic sailing.

Bidding Process and Timeline

Interested parties are encouraged to submit a preliminary proposal, outlining their plans, capabilities, and why their venue would provide an exceptional experience for sailors and fans.

Expressions of interest should be submitted by January 31st, 2025.
