25th SMU-RM Western Circuit Sailing Regatta: TWCSR successfully concludes its 25th edition

The 25th edition of the Western Circuit Sailing Regatta (WCSR) concluded with outstanding success, underscoring the event's remarkable legacy. Co-hosted by Raffles Marina and Singapore Management University (SMU), the SMU-RM WCSR 2024 delivered an electrifying showcase of competitive sailing and vibrant community spirit.

Over its distinguished two-decade history, WCSR has consistently represented the pinnacle of sailing excellence. This milestone year brought together sailors from diverse backgrounds and skill levels for a series of exhilarating races across various keelboat classes, further cementing the regatta's reputation as a premier event for competitive sailing.

On 17 and 18 August, the 25th SMU-RM Western Circuit Sailing Regatta set the stage for exhilarating competition, bringing together sailors from diverse backgrounds for an unforgettable event. The regatta showcased a remarkable fleet of keelboats across various classes, including 3 IRC, 6 PYs, 6 J24s, 13 SB20s and 10 Hansas. A total of 159 sailors participated, demonstrating exceptional skill and strategy. Their impressive manoeuvres and tactics made a lasting impression on all who witnessed the event.

Amidst the competitive spirit of the 25th SMU-RM Western Circuit Sailing Regatta, the event remained deeply committed to community engagement and philanthropy. The gala event not only celebrated athletic achievements but also highlighted social responsibility. A total of S$11,669 was raised in support of the Singapore Disability Sports Council's Sailability programme (SDSC), reinforcing the regatta's dedication to making a positive community impact. During the gala dinner, Raffles Marina's President, Mr. Loke Yuen Piew, presented the donation cheque to SDSC's Executive Director, Ms. Kelly Fan, and Paralympian and SDSC Sailability Coach, Mr. Jovin Tan.

The 25th SMU-RM Western Circuit Sailing Regatta serves as a powerful testament to sailing excellence, while also embodying the values of unity, community spirit, and altruism.
