Sail Canada 2024 49er and 49erFX Senior Championships Preview

2024 49er and 49erFX Senior Championships will be hosted by CORK/Sail Kingston, along with the 29er Canadian Championship © Sail Canada

Close to 30 sailors will be in action this weekend, August 16-18, in Kingston, during the Sail Canada 2024 49er and 49erFX Senior Championships.

Sail Canada 2024 49er and 49erFX Senior Championships will be hosted by CORK/Sail Kingston, along with the 29er Canadian, Viper 640 Great Lakes, VX One Great Lakes and Multi-Fleet One Design (MODs - Finn and Soling) Championships. Close to 120 sailors from Canada and U.S.A. are expected to take part in the whole event.

Amongst the Sail Canada 2024 49er and 49erFX Senior Championships participants, are Sail Canada Development Squad members Arie Moffat and Hunter Hoy, as well as Thomas and William Staples, will be in action in 49er.

Races for Sail Canada 2024 49er and 49erFX Senior Championships will be held according to the following schedule:

  • Friday, August 16: races are scheduled to start at 12pm
  • Saturday, August 17: races are scheduled to start at 11 am
  • Sunday, August 18: races are scheduled to start at 11 am
Sail Canada 2024 49er and 49erFX Senior Championships event is part of a series of seven Sail Canada National and Regional Championships to be held this summer. These competitions provide an opportunity for sailors to train and compete with high-level sailors in their region, in addition to serving as talent identification opportunities for regional and provincial sailing teams, as development and mentoring opportunities for coaches, as well as training and development opportunities for officials and volunteers.
