Goat Marine Enterprise National Championship at Looe Sailing Club - Day 4

Races 4 & 5 commenced in a light south-westerly after the obligatory Looe pasty for lunch.

With the fleet clean away in Race 4 most went right aiming to repeat yesterday's success with a small bunch smuggling themselves off to the left. Left turned out to be where what greater pressure there was with Charles Morris leading at the top mark ahead of Johnny Allen who was left to contemplate if he'd eaten to much BBQ the night before. Charles meanwhile held off the other silver fox Nick Jackson to an inaugural championship race win.

In Race 5 with the breeze getting lighter and after a general recall, the black flag had to go up. The fleet got away second time and spread fairly evenly over the course. Ges Brown and Nick Jackson rounded first and second but had been judged over the line and had to head home for early showers. This left a close tussle between Matt and Ivan Jaycock very nearly crossed Darren and Hayley into the lead but had to take turns and dropped to 7th.

The race continued and ended in a run against the tide to make the wing mark. Thankfully the race officer shortened the course and a grateful fleet headed for home... slowly.

With just a point between the leaders overall and a more promising forecast today there's everything to play for in today's races.
