Try a 2.4mR Day at Broxbourne Sailing Club this Saturday

by Bruce Hill 19 Jun 00:31 NZST 22 June 2024

The 2.4mR class are holding a 'Try out a 2.4mR day' at Broxbourne Sailing Club this Saturday 22nd June and would welcome anyone who fancies a trial sail. There will be a small fleet delivered and rigged ready to go plus owners on site to assist.

This class, though relatively small in the UK, is very popular in Europe and especially attracted by sailors from previously super competitive classes who no longer wish to race with the "whoever's fittest wins group". It combines all the technicalities of a keelboat without the crew and it costs less.

This year's World Championships will be held in late July at Kiel, Germany and already has over 70 entries. The boat is generally great fun as they go such similar speeds regardless of the crew weight as the rig can be adjusted to suit far more than most dinghies.

Anyone in the Broxbourne area on Saturday please scan the QR code so we can assure you a ride!
