A light drizzle surfaced this morning and then the rain came down more solidly, but it was like water off a duck's back for those taking part in the Australian Women's Keelboat Regatta (AWKR) at Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron at St Kilda, all enjoying breakfast put on by the Club this morning.

Race Day 2 is sponsored by Melbourne Debt Collections. Taking advantage of a forecast for up to 15 knots, race officer Lou Hutton plans to run at least two races on Port Phillip.

Following racing, it's back to RMYS for the Boat Buoys Yard Party, including music, a free sausage sizzle, with beer and seltzers courtesy of Moondog.

Last night competitors enjoyed the Crew Dinner at RMYS, where speakers Karyn Gojnich, Wendy Tuck and Mary Ann Harvey shared their different sailing stories. Afterwards, the rest caught up on each other's news on racing yesterday.

On the Jutson 39, Liberator, Victorian entrant Kate Hyde liberated her crew who had a field day playing dress ups - see the accompanying photo. They had a great day out on Port Phillip.

From competitor Maree on yesterday's opener: "Hey all team RMYS - you rock. Thank you for a fantastic day, with more to come,"

And from Sal Balharrie, owner/skipper of the Sydney 38, No Mans Land: "A big shout out to Blake Anderson and Doyle Sails. Major rip in the main and Blake picked it up and dropped it back in four hours. Incredible. So grateful - Day 2 we will be back on the water."

Doyle Melbourne is a long time sponsor and supporter of the AWKR and is the event's official Sail Partner. Not only is Doyle taking care of any sail repairs needed over the weekend, the local sailmaker has also provided handmade upcycled competitors bags.
