The Windy City is set to cheer for its own as local sailing champions Stephanie Roble and Maggie Shea gear up to represent the United States at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. This extraordinary journey has been made possible with support from the Chicago Yacht Club Foundation's (CYCF) Competition Fund.

The Role of the Chicago Yacht Club Foundation

The Chicago Yacht Club Foundation, renowned for its commitment to promoting the sport of sailing and bringing the joys and benefits of boating to all, with a primary focus on youth from underrepresented communities, has played a pivotal role in Roble and Shea's journey to the Olympics.

"We are incredibly proud of Steph and Maggie," said Greg Miarecki, President of the Chicago Yacht Club Foundation. "Their dedication, skill, and sportsmanship embody the spirit of our organization. We are thrilled to see them represent Chicago and the United States on the world stage, and we have every confidence in their success."

Steph Roble and Maggie Shea's Road to Paris

Roble and Shea are seasoned sailors with numerous accolades, such as a bronze medal at the 49erFX World Championships 2020. The dynamic duo has been training tirelessly for the opportunity to compete at the highest level of their sport and represent U.S. Sailing in the 2024 Paris Games, with sailing events taking place in Marseille. Their dedication and passion for sailing have been evident throughout their careers, and their hard work has culminated in their selection to the Olympic team. As Shea and Roble prepare for the upcoming Olympic Games, they focus on honing their skills and representing their country with honor and integrity. The support from the Chicago Yacht Club Foundation and the community has been instrumental in their journey, and they are determined to make Chicago proud.

A Community United

Roble and Shea's achievements have been a source of pride for the sailing community and the City of Chicago. Local businesses, schools, and residents have rallied behind the duo, showing their support through fundraising events, social media campaigns, and personal messages of encouragement.

"The Chicago community has rallied behind us for years - first, by believing in our potential as young junior sailors, and now, on the Olympic circuit as a professional team," says Maggie Shea. "Campaigning for the Olympics is extremely demanding, but having a group of wonderful people behind us helps us remember why we do it. When we're on the water or on the road, we get totally consumed by our mission to improve even the smallest aspects of our performance. When we spend time with our supporters, or hear from friends watching us compete from afar, we are reminded that our project is part of something much bigger!"

Stephanie Roble added "The Foundation's support has been huge for our Olympic Trials and Games prep. We are aiming to leave no stone unturned in the final stretch and with the Foundation's support we are able to make that a reality."
