The two-time overall Rolex Sydney Hobart winner Alive, skippered by Duncan Hine has entered the Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race.
This year marks the 16th edition of the fun-focused 343 nautical mile Go Troppo race to Keppel Bay Marina in the beautiful and warmer waters of the Keppel Island Group.
"We just want to go and have a bit of an adventure", he said, commenting on getting involved with the fleet from monohulls to multis.
"Our handicap hasn't changed from the Hobart, so this could be the opportunity for other boats to beat Alive on handicap", said Hine who is genuinely entering the race with the goal to have fun.
Hine is opting for a basic sail plan on their full handicap to make sure enjoyment is the focus.
"We will be sailing with a reduced main, and no spinnakers", he said.
"And we will also be sailing purely for the fun of it, as a two-handed crew", he revealed.
The race starts at 1100 hours on Thursday 20 June 2024 in Moreton Bay off Manly, Queensland and is also an ideal way to deliver by racing to North Queensland for the regatta season.
Keppel Bay Marina is the perfect waypoint to break the trip north, reprovision or change crew, experience dining at the award-winning Waterline Restaurant and complimentary berthing.
Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron is still accepting entries, with standard entries closing on Friday 31 May.
