Teams keen to take part in the British Keelboat League (BKL) are urged to get their entries in for the next #rockupandrace event in the series. There are just two places left for Qualifier 4, which will be co-hosted by Marconi SC and Stone SC on the east coast over the weekend of 15-16 June 2024.

Up to ten teams of four will be racing Marconi SC's fleet of SB20 keelboats and the final deadline for signing up is no later than 2359 on Saturday 1 June 2024.

Visit the Notice of Race and enter your team now.

Event organiser and BKL Coordinator, Peter Ward of Marconi SC, said: "The BKL sprint racing format guarantees exciting and close racing and we're delighted to be hosting an event again and working with Stone SC as part of the 2024 series.

"Practice sailing will be available on the Friday from late afternoon to early evening and it will also be a 'coached event', with a Saturday evening debrief from the coaches and umpires prior to an après-racing crew dinner and social.

"We've lined up a live band for Saturday night as well and weather permitting, there will be an opportunity to watch the sun go down behind Osea Island while reflecting on a great day's sailing with newly made friends!"

Camping for tents, caravans and motorhomes is available on site from Friday to Sunday, with B&Bs and hotels in the nearby towns of Burnham on Crouch and Maldon.

Among the teams already entered are: Royal Thames YC, winners of last year's BKL final; Marconi SC who have finished third in the BKA final two seasons-running; a young team called Wales 'Teen Spirit' returning for the east coast BKL event for the second successive year; plus teams from Oxford, Frensham and Blackwater sailing clubs.

Teams may also be made up of friends who are not all members of the same club. Find all the details and entry at Marconi SC British Keelboat League 2024.

SAILING Champions League

The BKL motto is: "THINK Football Champions League - SAIL British Keelboat League." Clubs can choose to enter just one event, or more, and the top two teams from each will be invited to the national BKL final at the end of September, and have the chance to win a place representing Britain in Europe in the 2025 SAILING Champions League.
