On April 6-7, the Marine Trades Association of Maryland will offer a Safety at Sea course at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, Mahan Hall.

It is strongly encouraged that all crew competing in the Annapolis to Newport Race, complete a US Sailing sanctioned Offshore or International Safety at Sea Seminar. Many of you may be participating in The Bermuda Race this year so are already in the process of fulfilling the OA's requirements.

The Notice of Race for the 2025 Annapolis to Newport Race is still in the works, but as a reminder, here's what was in the 2023 edition.

(a) These requirements are in addition to the requirements of US SER.
(b) A person meets the Safety at Sea training requirement when they have completed a US Sailing sanctioned Offshore or International Safety at Sea Seminar, either online or in-person, within the 5 years of the start date of the race. International seminars that are equivalent in scope and content may be acceptable with written approval of the OA. Further information about Safety at Sea Seminars is available here.
(c) For boats in the Double Handed Division, both crew shall meet the Safety at Sea training requirement.
