Bassenthwaite Sailing Club's Great North Asymmetric Challenge (known as the GNAC) will be held on the 16th and 17th September. For those who like a gybe this is a firm favourite in the northern sailing calendar. This years event is sponsored by Trident.
Entries have grown year on year and last year's event welcomed 74 boats and over 140 competitors.
A multi-class event open to all asymmetric boats, in the past the GNAC has welcomed almost everything from Vareos to 49ers and VX Ones. The event will be an eight-race series sailed on windward/leeward courses. This year's event is part of the RS200 and RS400 Northern Tour.
Camping is available on site for tents, caravans and motorhomes. The club (and bar) will be open on Friday evening and on Saturday the dance floor will be packed thanks to live music from Bass regulars Out On Bail.
The first start will be at 13:00 on Saturday September 16th. Enter by September 10th and save £10.
Under 18 helms receive an additional £5 discount.
