Final call for entries!
Third time does appear to be a charm for the 3-fleet regatta, previously cancelled with Covid, a fuel crisis and storms. We've put our names down for some excellent weather and additional tokens in the meter to ensure some classic Stokes Bay sunshine.
For the RS300s this weekend forms part of the Rooster Nationals Tour. For the OKs it's the North Sails Super Series (Part of the Noble Marine OK Travellers Trophy Series) and for the Europes, it's the penultimate qualifier of the year for the World Championships in Denmark next year. We've some top prizes, kindly arranged by Rooster too!
Camping is available within sniffing distance (the field next to the club) and also at Kingfisher Caravan Park just up the road. There are also some nice hotels in the area and a few cheap stays too.
Saturday breakfast will be on the go with smiley Jo at the helm. Jo likes to keep us fuelled and fit so we've got the usual bacon butties etc as well as avocado toast or granola bowl options. Cash or card (contactless and Apple Pay etc) are all accepted. Jo does the café classics for lunch such as paninis, toasties, sandwiches, pasta and jacket potato and cheesy chips and it's everything you ever needed after a big blowy sail on the Solent.
For the family, if you're into long walks on the beach, we've got a long, golden, pebbly beach for you, complete with ice creams, great views of the Isle of Wight and opportunities to spot some really big navy ships. Just up the road there are many places of little kids' dreams: "Explosion!" and the Submarine Museum where you can get a guided tour of one on the hard. There's also an ice-rink in nearby Fareham or you could catch the ferry over to the place were overdrafts go to die: Gunwharf Quays.
Saturday evening promises to the gem in the crown with Jo in the galley cooking up a chilli (veggie chilli also available and meal tickets to be booked online) and the bar will be open with a selection of local craft beers. The club is super looking forward to finally finding out what Pete has in store for the "Intra-Fleet Games" - hoping it at least rivals the Skiff Open's legendary "Dan's Big Bad Quiz".
The galley will be open for breakfast Sunday morning and both bar and galley will be available before you're off the water, ready for the re-charge to get you packed up and home.
