Three days of racing for the 26 Comet Trio Sailors spilt between the Mark 1 and Mark 2 fleets at Exe.

Friday (5th Aug) started with two races in champagne (super fizzy!) conditions with a south westerly 20 knot breeze. There was drama on the way out with a couple of capsizes which kept the rescue teams busy.

Mk 1 Fleet: Steve Ashford & Martin Yeomans won both races all my with Mk 2 Fleet husband and wife Ade & Tracie Padro also taking both first place positions.

Once the unofficial "race" back to shore to grab the hoses (not sun beds!) was complete, the fleets were greeted with a sumptuous afternoon tea. Later followed within a BBQ and skittles.

Everything to sail for on Saturday. More sunshine and a more sedate northerly 10 knot breeze with some shifty wind conditions greeted the fleet. The results also followed the shifty winds with Mk 1 Fleet: Anne & Mike May with three impressive first places. The Mk2 Fleet were even shiftier: Guy Farrant & Graham Sykes winning the first race, Andrew & Caroline McAusland winning the second race, and finally race 3 was won by Ade & Tracie Padro.

Saturday ended with a lovely club dinner, enjoyed by all and some reminiscing about last years results... two joint first places and only one point between them and third place! Surely that could not happen again!!

Sunday dawned with more sunshine and less wind...so much so there was a postponement. The wind filled in with a south westerly breeze at 7-9 knots. For the Mk 1 Fleet Anne & Mike May stormed into overall winning position with two more first places... sealing the deal for them.

For the Mk 2 fleet the battle continued with any of three boats who could take the victory. After a tense wait Ade & Tracie Padro were able to do enough to seal the win... again. Two joint first places and one point between them and third place.... who would have thought it.

Not forgetting the Ancient Mariners:
Mk 1: Keith & Hazel Lawson
Mk 2: Simon Gregory & Veronique Mackey-Hart

And a new award for the overall Youngest Mariner: Izaac Lee

Congratulations to everyone who sailed. Special thanks to the: OD / Race team, Rescue teams, Beach / Trolley teams, Galley and caterers. And not forgetting how proud we are to be sponsored by Noble Marine Insurance.
