The iconic Marlay Point Overnight Race has another stealer weekend lined up with many attractions over the Labour Day long weekend in March. In 2022 the race has again successfully navigated its way to a start line of approximately 100 boats with sailors ranging from 8 to 95 years.

The organising committee has worked tirelessly to plan the event creating an event to highlight sailing at night on the stunning Gippsland lakes in East Gippsland, Victoria. Sailors from Queensland to Tasmania have already entered, with some already on their way to the start line at Marlay point just out of Sale, Victoria.

The event kicks off with a Family Fun Day full of stalls, activities and music, hosted by Lake Wellington Yacht Club at Marlay Point. This has been made possible through a generous grant provided by the Victorian Government, with support from the Wellington Shire Council.

The race start is scheduled to kick off at sunset on Saturday 12th March. The fleet will make its way across Lake Wellington, through the McLennan Strait and into Lake Victoria. From there, boast will head east towards Paynesville, sail a lap around Raymond Island and come back to Paynesville to finish at the Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club, where sailors can enjoy a hearty breakfast on Sunday 13th March.

The race is set to be ticked off many bucket lists, as it is the premier trailer sailor event not to be missed. Come and find the 'Marlay magic' it's not to late.
