Day 2 of the event provided a little more wind than the previous day, with an ENE breeze of 15+ knots which whipped up a steep chop, especially once the ebb had settled in.
For those who knew how to make the most of the sea state on the offwind legs it provided a marvellous helter skelter ride which all found exhilarating. Getting to windward, however, was a tougher task and it was no surprise that the heavier helms once again came to the fore.
However, it was once again Nick Craig who led the field in all three of today's races, making it 6 straight wins and giving him the Championship with a day to spare. But it was not to be so, as PRO Dougal "The Line is Mine" Henshall recorded an OCS for Nick in race 5.
Richard le Mare finished behind Nick in all three races so he scored 2, 1, 2 for the day, which puts him firmly in second place over all. Richard Leftley, having partially recovered from his illness, registered 3,2,3 to strengthen his claim for third place. Moving up into 4th over all was Roger Ewart-Smith with 5,3,5 today.
So tomorrow will see the finale to this thoroughly enjoyable event, hosted by a very hospitable club. Lighter breezes are promised, and more sunshine, which will please many in the fleet who find themselves exhilarated but somewhat exhausted by the first two days' racing.
