The first World Championship to take place in the global J/Community was the J/80 Worlds in Rungsted, Denmark hosted by the Royal Danish Yacht Club (KDY- Kongelig Dansk Yachtklub) from July 4th to 11th, 2021.

A fleet of forty-three excited J/80 aficionados from nine nations (Spain, France, Germany, Ireland, United States, Norway, Netherlands, United Kingdom, and Belgium) sailed a full 14-race schedule over the five days!

A full-on battle raged amongst the leading Spanish teams with the entire podium occupying the top three slots in virtually every race, trading off who won. In the end, just three points separated to top two boats after 14 races! Winning was Real Club Maritimo Santander member Pablo Santurde del Arco sailing NEWIND FOODS with crew of Daniel de la Pedraja Yllera, Jon Larrazabal Lallana, Alberto Padron Torrent, and Joaquin Cavero Fernandez-Cotero.

Taking the silver was fellow RCM Santander member, Jose Azqueta's BIOBIZZ GETXO with his team consisting of Juan Manuel Barrionuevo Vallejo, Maria Sanchez Diaz, Jon Ortega, and Jaime Oliva de Fuentes.

Holding on to the third step of the podium all week-long was Spaniard Dr. Javier Chacartegui with his team of Philip Marcus, Francisco Javier Pomar, and Leonardo Domingo Armas.
