The final day of the Windsurfer Nationals at Toronto Amateur Sailing Club saw big breeze changes and intense competition with both the Slalom Double Elimination and the Marathon race completed.
A building south easterly got the competitors going in quick fire slalom rounds to start the day. By the time the three finals came around the wind had shifted east and dropped significantly. However all three were completed just after lunch to allow time for the final race of the event.
Over 100 windsurfers took to the line for the Marathon race, the largest gathering since the early 80's. A new south easterly arrived just for the start however a general had to be called, taking at least ten minutes to reconvene the fleet. The U flag was then raised and another opportunity presented to witness and capture the colourful start. The breeze dropped out again mid race to roughly five knots however two laps of the course were easily completed.
