The Windsurfer National Championships are being held at Toronto Amateur Sailing Club over the Australia day long weekend. With two days and ten course races completed on Thursday and Friday it was time for freestyle and Slalom on the 26th.
Competing to songs of choice each sailor had three minutes to wow the judges with their old school moves within a box situated just in-front of the club. With some entertaining commentary ringing out from the balcony the crowd was treated to a great display of some seriously technical moves from both old and new competitors alike.
Once the south easterly kicked in it was time for the slalom course. Set straight off the jetty the action was fast and furious. Up to ten sailors at a time were unleashed around a course of twists and turns with seven minute races the norm. Before the wind shifted and died outright the women, cruisers and all first round heats of the men were completed.
Sunday sees the continuation of the slalom followed by the long distance race.
