The 2nd June saw the 5th race of the Moore Blatch & Station Financial Thursday Night Racing take place in a NE 15-18 knot breeze on the Western Solent.
There was a downwind start towards Hurst Castle for all classes, followed by a reach across to the Island shore. Unfortunately due to the strong incoming tide the beat back from the island to the mainland shore became a fetch.
For some of the classes the course was shortened on the first lap, whilst the early starters in IRC completed their full course.
In the Folkboat class, another bullet for Stuart Watson on Crackerjack who is still undefeated in the series with 4 points. In IRC a strong performance from Ray Crouch and his team on Boomerang resulted in their 4th race win of the series, allowing them to discard their worst result and is now leading the class with straight bullets.
Oliver Dunford & Shane Armitage's J80 Purple Haze is now leading the class after an impressive race win with Annabelle Vines aged 10 at the helm and her twin brother Ollie as crew, but rival J80's No Regrets and Wildcat III are still in the frame.
In LAH 2 a second consequence race win for the much modified Hunter 707 Gravity moves them up the leader board, which is being headed by the Elan 31 Red Kite, helmed by Tim Wookey.
A big thank you to the race organisers and volunteers for yet another fabulous evening of racing on the Western Solent and also thank you to our Thursday night race sponsors Moore Blatch & Station Financial.
