Régate XOD at the Yacht Club du Crouesty Arzon - Day 2

Sunday started with a postponement due to the lack of wind in the Bay of Quiberon with all boats remaining on the dock. For many this was a great opportunity to discuss the boats, compare winning features and musing about future class changes.

At 1300hrs the AP was taken down and the fleet slipped mooring and headed out in line astern. With a wind of at least 10 knots, the committee quickly set the course and racing was underway.

Lone Star quickly established a lead in the first race of the day with William Norris second followed by Lara and Delight in close pursuit. Places once established remained the same to the finish.

The second race followed exactly the same format with once again Lone Star gaining a significant lead and William Norris securing second in front of Lara and Delight.

The club laid on a fabulous buffet in the evening with a very imaginative centrepiece in the shape of a pheasant. A great night had by all and we even got a fly past by a local celebrity!

Results after Day 2: (four races)

1st Lone Star, Stuart Jardine
2nd Delight, Stuart Haill
3rd Lara, Willy McNeil
4th Beatrix, William Norris
5th Foxy, Mark Hall
6th Calypso, John Harding
7th Xenia, Mike Till
8th Mystery, John Miller
9th Blue Phantom, Neal Brewer

Bumper participation is an indicator for the health of sailing It would be so easy to write about the Olympics and America's Cup this week in my newsletter but, in all honesty, we're writing and talking enough about those on Sail-World.com and YachtsandYachting.com already. Bournemouth Digital Poole Week 2024 overall
Studies in concentration A lot happened on the final day of Poole Week 2024. The wind was in one of its light and fickle moods, the tide was ebbing for the first starts, and the harbour was busy with traffic that had been mercifully light earlier in the week. Posted on 31 Aug
