225 young sailors set to compete
Today is the first day of the IODA European Championship at Tavira, Portugal. Between the 2nd and 10th July, 225 young sailors from 37 countries will race off the coast of Tavira Island to compete for the top spots of this competition, to find the new Optimist European Champion.
The weather conditions expected for today are NW wind with about 5 to 6 knots.
Tracking units have been fitted in each boat. This GPS system locates each young sailor in real time, and it will be available for following the track on the Tavira Sailing official website.
The Tavira Sailing project has the patronage of Montepio, which has a strong connection to this practice and the institutional support of the Municipality of Tavira, Tavira´s Nautic Club, Portuguese Sailing Federation, the Portuguese Association of International Optimist Class and the International Class 420. The Vila Galé group has been linked to this project from the outset on strategic partnership.
